Sleep Hacks: How to Fall Back Asleep

Unscientific theories from Lizzie and Kristina on how to go from wide-awake panic to R.E.M (…“and I feel fine” 🎶):

🦮 Pet Therapy: Bring your dog into bed.

👓 Blue Light Blast: Read on your phone without your glasses to make your eyes tired.

👟 Getting in that cardio: Make your body too tired to spiral at 2 a.m.

🥤 Drink in some magnesium before sleepy time.

Tripping Out: Tryptophan, Man.

On the pod, Kristina claims she has vivid dreams after eating sushi, and we’ve heard the same about cheese. Turns out it could be attributed to the amino acid called tryptophan (yes, the same one ppl talk about after eating turkey at Thanksgiving) that’s converted into serotonin, which in turn can cause vivid dreams when consumed in high levels. What’s really happening is that the serotonin is creating melatonin and a deeper R.E.M sleep, which in turns makes room for dreams. Some other quick fixes to the sleep highway are: cheddar cheese, salmon, and lamb. We’ll take one of each.

...Sweet Dreams!
